These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Argo application and related services ("Service") provided by Argo ("we," "us," "our"), operated from Switzerland.
By downloading, installing, or using Argo, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Argo is a local-first privacy layer that sits between you and third-party AI models. The Service works as follows:
Argo is a privacy tool — not an AI model. The AI responses you receive are generated by the third-party provider you choose and connect via your own API key.
Argo uses a Bring Your Own Key model. You provide your own API key from a supported third-party AI provider (e.g. Anthropic, OpenAI). This means:
All personal data processed by Argo — your vault (stored personal values), learned context memory, chat history, and substitution maps — is stored and processed entirely on your device. Argo (the company) has no access to this data.
You are responsible for the security of your device and the data stored on it. If you uninstall Argo, all locally stored data is removed with it.
We believe in transparency about what Argo can and cannot do:
You agree not to use Argo to:
You are solely responsible for the content of your prompts and for how you use the responses generated by the third-party AI provider.
The Argo application, including its software, design, local AI models bundled with the app, documentation, and branding, is the intellectual property of Argo and is protected by applicable copyright and intellectual property laws.
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Argo application for personal, non-commercial purposes in accordance with these Terms.
Your data is yours. We claim no ownership or rights over the content you create, the personal data stored in your vault, your learned context memory, or your chat history. All of this remains on your device and under your control.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all warranties, including but not limited to:
Argo is a privacy tool — not a source of professional, medical, legal, or financial advice. The AI responses you receive through Argo are generated by third-party models and should not be relied upon as a substitute for professional judgment.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Argo and its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:
In any event, our total aggregate liability to you for all claims arising out of or relating to the use of the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or CHF 100, whichever is greater.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Argo and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in any way connected with:
You may stop using Argo at any time by uninstalling the application. Uninstallation removes all locally stored data (vault, memory, chats, and local models).
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users, us, or third parties, or for any other reason at our sole discretion.
Sections 7 (Intellectual property), 8 (Disclaimers), 9 (Limitation of liability), 10 (Indemnification), 12 (Governing law), and 13 (Dispute resolution) survive termination.
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Switzerland, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. The application of the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods is excluded.
Any dispute, controversy, or claim arising out of or relating to these Terms, or the breach, termination, or invalidity thereof, shall first be attempted to be resolved through good-faith negotiation between the parties.
If the dispute cannot be resolved through negotiation within thirty (30) days, it shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Zurich, Switzerland.
Nothing in this section prevents either party from seeking injunctive or other equitable relief in any court of competent jurisdiction.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via our website and, where applicable, through the application. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
The "last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Argo regarding the use of the Service, and supersede any prior agreements or understandings.
